Location
All the keynote speeches, lectures and activities will be held at the VILLA GIUSTINIANI CAMBIASO,Via Montallegro 1, Genoa. The Villa is the historical headquarter of the UNIGE's polytechnic School of Engineering.

Villa Giustiniani Cambiaso (VGC) was built from 1548 on by the Perugia-born architect Galeazzo Alessi for Luca I Giustiniani. The villa, a compact and powerful building, stands at the edge of a small valley from which it dominates the landscape, taking advantage of the dual sea and mountain view.
The construction is the result of the close interrelationship between the desire for magnificence on the part of the patron -an exponent of the city’s most cultured and refined aristocracy- and the architect’s compositional ability, in line with ancient and more recent Roman constructions: a luxurious as well as comfortable residence reflecting Giustiniani’s vast culture and suitable for housing his precious collection of antique items.
The hall, the centre of gravity of the sea-mountain axis that establishes the villa’s cubic volume within the landscape through the gallery’s diaphragmatic space, is located at the end of the climb inside the residence. The loggia has the frescoes by Luca Cambiaso and Giovanni Battista Castello (also called the Bergamasco). These depict Diana-Moon-Night to the east and Apollo-Sun-Day to the west and hence speak of Vitruvian themes of the human figure within space, the object of essays and most definitely a topic of interest for both the architect and the owner.
The villa, starting from 1919, belongs to Genoa’s city authorities. Home to the Royal Naval School since 1921, it now hosts the Polytechnic School, being granted in use free of charge to the University of Genoa.
